Abstract: AfriClimate AI is dedicated to enhancing climate resilience, improving forecasting capabilities, and supporting informed decision-making across Africa. In this talk, we will introduce AfriClimate AI, its mission, and its strategic approach to tackling climate challenges on the continent. We will explore key projects, such as benchmarking global weather forecasting models for better accuracy in Africa and building local capacity in weather data and AI. Through these initiatives, AfriClimate AI aims to empower communities with innovative, data-driven solutions to address the pressing climate issues facing Africa.
Bio: Dr. Sabrina Amrouche is the co-founder of AfriClimate AI, a grassroots initiative leveraging AI to address climate challenges in Africa. She also serves as Head of Data Science at ZYTLYN, where she leads the development of advanced time series forecasting solutions. With a PhD from CERN in deep learning for particle tracking, Dr. Amrouche applies her expertise in AI and data science to advance innovations in climate forecasting and predictive analytics.
