Selena: The Series on NETFLIX FAILS to give tejano legend her voice
Selena Quintanilla-Perez is an icon and if I'm going to watch a show about her... she should be the main character... unlike how they portrayed her in Selena: The Series. Anything good about the show might as well have been covered in tar with how awful the bad parts of the show were...

Watch the video if you want to hear an angry rant about it...

They made her so weak! I hated it. I think she was WAY more independent from her family than they are trying to make it seem. She was a business woman, entrepreneur! I want a show from Chris Pérez Point of view!

We all agree that a series or movie should be made based on the book that her husband Chris Perez wrote. We want to see the other part of the story and the book has a lot of information that we Selena fans would love to see. It would be extremely important that Chris is in the entire filming and casting process. Let him be the one who chooses the next Selena.

I would’ve rather watched a series based off To Selena With Love than anything that family put out after 1997.

I think the emphasis on Yolanda was helpful to be honest. The original film framed it as Yolanda just appeared out of nowhere and committed a murder. Whereas this show, as terrible as it is, really drives home the fact that Yolanda implanted herself in this family and betrayed them in the end. Imagine having one of your bridesmaids kill your sister? The show overall needed more work but I think the Yolanda part was needed

It felt more like the AB and Abraham show then the Selena show! I just hope that hat Chris gets to make a show or a movie about Selena from his experience with her. I feel like he will know the REAL Selena.

I agree 100%! She was shown as a wimpy, a more unhappy person, not a strong person! They showed Chris as a jerk, wasn’t supportive of Selena and “what about me (Chris)”. It was very disappointing! It should been called Los Dinos!

We deserve the opportunity to see Chris’ story of his life before, during, and after Selena. My heart hurts for him. 🌹

I honestly don’t like the casting at all, casting an Italian actress to play her . One of the reasons why a lot of her she was immediately accepted in Mexico without knowing Spanish is that she represented a side of Mexico that was never really well represented. She was of darker skin and had less European look than most telenovela stars .
She’s not Luis Miguel simple as that so casting an Italian actress was a wrong choice

The series seemed like it was more about the siblings then Selena especially the dad and brother

I think showing Selena's flaws and shortcomings as a person were needed within this series. It portrays how human she was and that everyone makes mistakes, everyone can act out of emotion, everyone can move quickly without thinking about the consequences. As a woman in their 20s watching the series, I felt like I could relate to Selena THAT MUCH MORE because of those low moments. Was the series perfect? FAR FROM. Did you see the costuming? LMAO. However, it was good for what it was. There was more detail in this show than we could've ever gotten from J-Lo's starring role in the 1997 film. We were able to dive into the real lives of her family members and the rest of the band. It was good.

Everytime something Selena comes out (shows, entertainment, products, tributes), my mom always sighs and says "Ya dejen descansar a esa pobre mujer (let that poor woman rest in peace)"
Even when the movie came out, my mom was under the impression that there was no good reason for it, other than the family trying to suck money off her name.

Absolutely. I even posted something about the series on my Instagram when part two was coming back. Saying that part one was a little rocky, but I and optimistically excited for part two and tagged AB and Suzet. AB didn’t like my post so he got It taken down 😒 even went as far as to block me 😂 that family is so money hungry it’s sad.

I could not stand how they portrayed Selena! They made her seem like a ditzy little Barbie that only cared about shopping and her hair. She was so much more than that.

Yasss I really couldn't put my finger as to why I didn't like the story. Especially part 2!

I think the 'crime' Chris was really guilty of was falling in love with Selena, and she with him.

I think it was also because they didn’t let Chris have a say in the production, because when it was a documentary with the actors and the family about making the movie, they reviled that Chris was the one that told them about the bus seen. And I think the family didn’t want Chris in the making for this show just as much as they didn’t want him with Selena just because of that reason he would tell them things he thought was important that the family didn’t want the public to know. Plus it felt like it was being rushed like they claim its was to introduce a new generation to Selena but it felt like it was for a quick buck.

Despite the screentime Yolanda got, the actress, natasha Perez is a really great actress. She made my heart beat every time she comes on. In an interview she said to prepare for her role, she even went to a clown teacher, went to libraries for extensive research. Even wanted to meet the real life Yolanda, but didn't out of respect for the family.

I honestly didn’t think the series made her dad look caring at all. He looked manipulative and controlling. I kept thinking he was Joe Jackson without the beating. And her moms entire existence on the show was to comfort everyone with inspirational talks when they had a problem. When does she have a problem and need that herself??

We fans don't want a TV series or "new" albums. We want more of her performances and concerts, either on DVD, Blu Ray, or streaming services
