True story: when I was a teenager, me and my buddy went out on the lake in his dad’s boat. No particular plan in mind. At one point, we decide we want to fish, but have absolutely no tackle with us, just a couple of rods with hooks. We decide to cast them in the water with 0 expectation of catching anything.
A few short minutes later, DNR shows up, and neither of us had fishing licenses. They decide to ‘let us off easy’ and give us one ticket but we had to decide who would get it. We played rock paper scissors, and I won. He got the ticket. Something about cops on boats and RPS I guess.

Tom, in all fairness… it doesn’t say they got out of a “felony” but rather they got out of a “feloney”. Rock, paper, scissors seems a fair battle to have all feloney charges dropped.

I was at a metro park on Cleveland one time at night as my friends and I were walking back to our cars from the beach on Lake Erie. They had two people arrested and they asked us to vote to let them go or arrest them for weed. Our group talked about it and all the males (3) said yes first. Then the females (4) said no after. We wanted to let them go but thought it would be funny to make them think we could say yes. And the two cops literally un-cuffed them and let them go. It does happen.

This is probably something from like Florida fish and wild life where pretty much everything is a felony and these are like some spring breakers who don't know the rules or something and it was probably something dumb

I've been let go after a drag launch in downtown with a car that had no paperwork, the cop was our school resource officer at the high school where I graduated early from. so he knew what was up he just said test it on country roads and keep it under 100

Cops on boats are somehow above the fourth amendment and it makes no sense. Look into it.

Maybe if it was a felony they knew they couldn't actually prove, and would just end up being paperwork. Like, say, saw them doing some coke 9 miles out from the nearest land, then see them toss it as they come up.
