The show is inspired by the famous humorous column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chasma' written by the eminent Gujarati writer Mr. Tarak Mehta. This story evolves around happenings in "Gokuldham Co-operative Society" and covers topical issues that are socially relevant. The show predominantly - Promoolves around 'Jethalaal' (Dilip Joshi) who is an uneducated Gujarati businessman. Your 'Taarak Mehta' (Sailesh Lodha), is his neighbor. 'Jethalaal' finds a friend and philosopher in 'Taarak Mehta' and often goes to him for advice whenever he is in trouble. Jethalaal's family includes his simpleton wife 'Daya Ben' (Disha Wakani) and a mischievous son 'Tapu' (Bhavya Gandhi). Tapu is a menace and a constant source of trouble for all the members of Gokuldham. They have often warned 'Jethalaal' to reform 'Tapu' or else be prepared to leave the premises. Lost hopes of being heard by his son push Jethalaal' to call his father 'Champaklal' (Amit Bhatt) from the village. This was his great idea of leashing some control over the mischievous Tapu. The opposite happens and the grandfather joins hands with the grandson to make life a roller coaster troublesome ride for Jethalaal.

In Spain, after centuries of Muslim rule, the Muslims were overwhelmed by the Christian Army, led by Catholic Monarchs. However, on 31th March (When The Decree of Expulsion was issued by The Catholic Monarchs), the Muslims hid & they were fortified in their homes. The Christian Armies wanted to get rid of the Muslims somehow. The Christians told the Muslims that the Muslims could leave their homes safely and could take only the necessary things from their homes. Muslims also were told that they could sail away from Iberian Peninusla in the ships anchored on the quay side with the royal safeguard from The Christians and The Catholic Monarchs on their expulsion. The Muslims did wonder and they were skeptical if this ploy was a trick by The Catholic Monarchs and their armies.Then, Muslims were requested to go to the quay side to check the ships. Later, Muslims did so and were convinced. Then Muslims made preparations to leave. The next day, 1st April, Muslims took their essential belongings and walked towards the quay side. But then, The Christians, perpetrated by Catholic Monarchs suddenly sieged & encircled The Muslims from all directions. The Christians looted their homes and then set fire to them. Before the Muslims got to the ships, the Christians had set fire to the ships as well. The Christians then attacked the Muslims and massacred them all without mercy at all, including men, women and children. Consequently, all Iberian Muslims in the port were brutally massacred. Blood pooled everywhere, and The blue-colored sea had turned blackish red, because their corpses were dumped into the sea. So, The Muslims were totally fooled & massacred en masse by Ferdinand, Isabella, and their armies on 1st April! Since then, the Christians then celebrated this massacre event on 1st April (a.k.a April Fools!). This then became a ritual that was celebrated every year and that has been carried on until this day not only in Spain but in other countries, too. People on this world celebrate 1st April as well as playing jokes on others on this day through sheer ignorance of this historical fact. We should bring out the facts of the story to all in order to put a stop to the practice of celebrating this bloody and shameful episode
