that box is a great idea if you are hunting for working old school controllers at yard sales and swap meets. it would be easy to modify it for multiple inputs.

This is so simple yet so amazing! As soon as I saw this video I jumped on my local tech-stuff store's site and ordered the necessary parts to build something similar. No need to fire up a system and load a game, no need to type in basic code, just a simple circuit. But people should know that these kind of testers work only with C64/Amiga joysticks (and their relatives like the Atari and some functionality with Sega Megadrive/Genesis), since all the controller does is shorting 2 pins. Thanks for the idea!

The Commodore 64 was the start for a lot of us, it's a amazing how much stuff they made for that computer, you could spend ore on a 64 than we spend on a new high end computer now good luck with your joy stick

Idealy you should use a cheap 5v regulator, like a 7805. Home computers and consoles of that era only ever ran on 5v and the circuitry in the joysticks (for things like auto fire) wouldn't be designed for 9v.
