Why Do People Hate Mikasa?

Something that is quite common in the fandom is just hating on Mikasa without actually understanding her character.

Mikasa is such a beautiful sweetheart. I don't understand how anyone could hate her. She is so loving to her friends and can turn on a psycho switch when they're threatened and defend them with brutal efficiency. It's my goal in life to find a woman who looks at me with the same eyes that Mikasa looks at Eren with.

I'll say it again, What do you expect? Mikasa lost everything, multiple times, and all she had was Eren. So of course she'll be obsessed with him and cling to the only thing she's had left and feels safe with. We all would too.

She was a well written character. The hate against her is not justified.

It's crazy to know that Ymir who got her tongue cut, was an actual slave to King Fritz; however, Mikasa who says Eren's name every episode, was not a slave to love and cut his head. That goes to show you that Mikasa freed Ymir and that the later brought the world to a cycle of hatred and agony.

i love mikasa so much but she is not as well written as people think she is

She is "obsessed" with Eren because he saved his life, took her in his family and always protected her (Eren's mom always said "Eren, go with Mikasa, protect her"). Eren is just as obsessed with Mikasa. He has a whole scene of whining and crying "I want Mikasa to be my wife"

Thing is that she doesn't have a lot of personality outside from loving Eren. If we think of Annie, Historia, Sasha, Hange, hell, even Gaby, we can point out specific features of their personalities. Mikasa is a super human fighter and in love with Eren: besides that, there is nothing else. I don't hate her, but she is not the greatest character either
