I like your method for packing down and tightly wrapping the soil in the bags! As a fellow beginner with propagating figs, I think the fig pop method is the way to go. No fungus gnats, and we can see how we are doing and learn from our mistakes. It seems like many of the fig growing experts on YouTube have eventually switched to planting in black tree pots to lessen any future transplant shock. But I think for those of us who are NOT yet expert, fig pops rock!
