The change between 2007-2008 was immense. That's when Spider-man games really started to lay the groundwork for what the open world of New York looks like in a Spider-man games of the modern era.

I'm shocked Fortnite managed to nail a lot of stuff with their Spider-man. It wasn't shown in this video, but you can also web yourself behind a moving vehicle to start surfing. Honestly, I wish the PS4/PS5 games had that feature. Imagine being Miles and sliding behind a truck or a car during a chase sequence.

I love how in the new games (Marvel's Spider-Man and Miles Morales) Miles is not just a re-skin of Peter. He actually has his own moves while swinging, he is a bit clunkier than Peter and has a bit more "teenagery" and "hipstery" style of swinging while Peter's swinging is more refined and efficient let's say cuz of course he is more experienced.

I love Ultimate Spider-Man’s web swinging so much, it’s so satisfying

But then again, the place where it felt absolutely better than everyone else’s was in Spider-Man PS4 (for me at least)

Marvels Avengers has one problem.
When you shoot the web, you just stop. You don't slowly move, you simply just stop moving, mid air, and that makes what little momentum the game has harder to notice.

I'm not the biggest fan of Fortnite and even I admit the web swinging was implemented very well.

Honestly, when it comes to button control, I like TASM 2. I love how L2 controlled Peter’s left hand when swinging, and R2 controlled his right hand. Really just having control in general. Same with Fortnite. You got to control where you shot your webs. Either way, I’m excited to see what Insomniac does with Spider-Man 2!

Apart from the web swinging, I love how Spiderman ps4 has the spider suit match the world in saturation so it doesn't look out of place like many of the others. Same goes for the web, it's not super white, just the right amount that feels realistic and is noticeable

The fact they were able to change the web slinging that much from marvels Spider-Man to Miles Morales in less than two years only makes me more hyped to see how much it develops in marvels Spider-Man 2 when it drops in 2023 and we get to play as both characters

2004 spider man on the ps2 will always be pinnacle of spider man games. Being able to swing between building and walk the streets for the first time was a game changer

The fact that the marvels avengers version has Peter moving slower than a dump truck without any tires on and he has the audacity to go in mid air is insulting

Marvels Avengers swinging is just so stilted and awkward…. Doesn’t help that each swing is followed up by a shout from Peter giving off the illusion he’s actually traveling a significant distance…. Maybe a speed increase would help make it more fun to swing than how it is now.
