To be honest, I didn't mind the idea of the sets of stages for each game, because they basically act as both a tutorial and a demo (like Brawl's Masterpieces). For example, I had zero clue how to play Wario's Woods before this game, and I didn't want to flail about frantically in a Wario's Woods remix stage to figure out the controls, but at the same time I played enough of Wario's Woods to know that I don't think I'd like owning the full game.

...That said, I do agree that the proportion of remix stages really should be larger, if an NES Remix 3 (or even a Remix game based on another system) is created.

The "mundane" non-remix stages are essential to the game. I think the problem some of you have is you're not rainbow staring the games. As somebody who got rainbow stars on every challenge in the 1st one i recognize that the early simple challenges are what allowed me to master each individual mechanic of each game, and this to me was necessary for completing the more difficult challenges with rainbow stars. I enjoyed the whole experience thanks to the game being designed this way and because i actually tried to accomplish the actual purpose of the game. To me NES remix would have been very boring if i hadn't been so intense about collecting the rainbow stars, when i see your review it seems to me your not really playing the game as intended as you seem to have very few rainbow stars. I'd suggest it's your inability to accomplish them 100% that's the cause of you finding the early challenges so "mundane". It's about speed running and posting awesome times not just completing them.

I can't believe this game was six years ago. Why haven't they done more of this kind of stuff? This would be fun as hell on the Switch!

I don't know about 2, but I enjoyed the regular game challenges in NES Remix, they tested all the abilities and tricks that make you master each title before moving on to the zany remixes. It was a sort of interactive Nintendo trivia.

The reason I love NES remix one is because I play a level or two every couple of days so it never feels like I am being drowned in old stuff (though some I have never played). It is a good filler when I only have ten minutes to play a game. I will probably look into getting this one as well but only when I get closer to finishing NES Remix.

I dunno. I like playing the original missions. It kinda makes the remixes all the more special. I like the format more than anything. Playing games we played 99000 times in a whole different way.

This review was better than every single IGN review I have ever seen combined.

I just wish they'd make "remix" games where they take whole levels from different games and let you play as characters from other Nintendo franchises in them. Like Link or Donkey Kong in Mario Bros, or Mario in a Zelda dungeon, etc.

It appears some of this made it into Remix 2, but that's what the bulk of these games should be IMO. I don't imagine the dev work on that would even be all that hard, since all they'd have to do is program old games to have new sprites with different abilities.

Given that regular dudes have been doing that online for free public consumption for years now, I can't imagine that's hard -- but it would be cool to get it on the Wii U and with Nintendo's polish.

So until that's what we get, I'm not so sure I'm going to drop my $ on a Remix game.. but I would in a second as soon as that changes.

After what seems like forever I dug out my 3DS last week so I could get street passes at Magfest. I’ve barely touched my Switch since then, I can’t put my 3DS down! I forgot how much I love this little system. Just ordered a copy of NES Remix and I can’t wait to play it.

Maybe if they make a third one, they should introduce, third party challenges and remixes like from Megaman, Castlevania, or even ducktales?

The remix stages look so amazing and fun. I really wish they would just do all remixes :/ Maybe the next NES Remix will be just that... remixes! I'm tempted to get this just to see how the Kirby remixes stages work. I think I'll wait though. I got Triple Deluxe around the corner anyway.
