As long as no boats are nearby, he's unstoppable.

The fact that a normal ass sailor literally fought Cthulhu and lived to tell the tale will never not be hilariously badass

Imagine seeing Cthulhu chasing you at the sea
And your first instinct is to attack him before fleeing

So from what I understand it goes:

Dreamers < Zoogs < Dreamland cats < Dreamland entities < Earth gods < Night-gaunts < Other gods < boat.

Got it.

"He can beat Goku"

He can beat more than 90% of the animeverse.

If a human can see Azathoth, a cosmic horror that is at the top of every hierarchy, without any damage. Then all I can say is that they are LITERALLY built different

Imagine being a creative artist in the lovecraftian universe, taking some mushrooms, and when you become aware of reality again you’ve just like destroyed an entire city cause you unlocked god powers.

I wonder how many people realize that H.P. Lovecraft actually told us how "Cthulhu" is supposed to be pronounced. It's not just that the "C" is silent -- it isn't; it just produces a sound you never heard before.

That sets the stage, but the play can't begin until we realize that the entire name is not meant for the human vocal apparatus to reproduce, and sounds less like speech as we understand it than like the crash and gurgle of surf.

Pronounced correctly, it's a series of phonemes you might expect to hear in a heated conversation with Scylla.

I always did view the Cthulhu Mythos deities to be perfect final boss material for the Earth Pantheons. Glad my "headcanon" of sorts isn't too far off the mark. Excellent video as always!

Chulhu was never stopped by the boat. He was momentarily inconvenienced.

- What do you get when you nuke Cthulhu?
- What?
- A moment later, a radioactive Cthulhu.

Please do more Lovecraftian gods, this video alone gave me so much inspiration for a D&D campaign alone

His avatar was momentarily injured by a steamboat. Hell in another story after Atomic Weapons were known it was written he was atomized by one and the Avatar just took a while to reform. What people see of Cthulhu is just like the tail of a gecko.

"a single talking cat from the dreamlands can probably solo your favourite verse" this is the funniest thing ive heard all day

Really cool video. Few have done a power scaling analysis about lovecraftian entities with such exhaustiveness and humor. Hope you continue with other deities from the mythos.

This power scaling is Cthulhu approved

Actually, the Insanity Aura thing IS real. Cuz if I remember correctly, there is this story where Cthulhu only woke up for like a few seconds in Ry'leh... And then half of the population on earth goes insane(just by Cthulhu waking up alone ! He didn't even show them his face). I forgot where is this from tho, so you can go ahead and think I'm talking BS.

Thanks for clarifying about the insanity effect. Most of the lovecrafts stories deal with fearing the unknown, so seeing a giant monster could easily terrify most people
