The ONLY Watch You Will Ever Need ! - Federico Talks Watches

In today's episode of Federico Talks Watches I talk about the only watch you will ever need. The Rolex Submariner. The Rolex submariner is the most iconic and one of the most versatile watches out there. PERFECT for the one watch guy. The only watch they will ever need. But what about for a seasoned watch collector?

Thanks for all the support!

One of my mentors had a Rolex GMT Pepsi bezel from the 60s, a 1675. The watch had been with him and on his wrist for 30+ years. He wore it on 6 continents and died with it on his wrist. That is the story of a one watch owner.

The next watch is always the one watch.

Very well said Fed, best argument I have ever heard for the Sub. I bought my 16800 in 1982 just before going into the Army, it served in Panama, Iraq & Somalia went through every advanced school in the military, including time in sub zero temperatures in the Arctic & many HALO jumps almost never taking it off my wrist & although I retired her after 25 years as my daily wearer (still wear her though) replacing her with the standard all black ceramic GMT as my daily wearer these days. I would never make the argument that Rolex is the greatest ever as there is so many great watches to pick from but as it may not be the last word in modern fashion it is a classic no nonsense friend & I find great pleasure in that. It doesn't bother me in the least if I run into someone that is wearing the same watch as it just gives me the opportunity to talk watches. Here's the kicker I paid 881.00 for it brand new & I have recently had a fellow collector offer me 7000.00 for it, now that is really something of coarse I wouldn't even trade it for my grail Patek Philippe 5235G as I spent my best & worst days with her, it truly means that much' Thanks Fed.

If I would be a one watch guy, I would buy an Omega Aqua Terra. More understated than a Sub. And in my eyes even more versatile.

Grand Seiko Snowflake is what i desire.
I dont care about the branding, what it offers is beyond that.

Please folks stop the B.S. The submariner is totally the best watch money can buy hands down. It defines the watch genre in a myriad of ways. And it has polarized people of all walks of life. I have the Sub ceramic and it really is a fantastic piece when worn amongst the NYC crowd. Never heard a bad comment yet. And yes, of course I have a nice 7 piece collection including IWC, Omega, Sinn etc. But to me, “all roads lead to Rolex” and the vehicle on the road the Rolex Submariner. Nice video Fed. Keep it up. And soon I will save enough coins to purchase from your great start up.

Yup I have to agree. No Date Sub of course. #2 Would be the Omega Seamaster Professional. I have both and I think both are the perfect watch.

One watch only? Easy. Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with Hesalite crystal. It dresses up, and dresses down. It’s very tough. It’s beats the Rolex for “one watch” because it can also go low key when you need it to but still gets noticed and called out by watch people. Plus a Moonwatch shows you know watches more than a Rolex does. Don’t get me wrong I love my Rolex and wear it a lot but it wouldn’t be my one and only watch.

The only watch I'll ever need

Automatic ✅
100 and above water resistance✅
DayDate✅
40hour AT LEAST! Power reserve✅

Seiko's good at that.

Is say the explorer as it’s a bit more subtle but I also think it’s cooler as it’s less recognisable and understated but still has the history, style and reliability of Rolex.

I think for most normal people the sub is great but for me I’d hate to be wearing the same watch as so many “normies”(non watch geeks) when I go out

In my humble opinion, if a one-watch has to be a Rolex Submariner which I fully think it's suitable, it has got to be a black Sub because black is a generic colour which matches any colour outfit. Therefore the green Sub is not generic enough for a, say, blue or brown suit. Black Sub is definitely ok.

I might agree that if you want status, Rolex is most identifiable to both watch guys and non watch guys. I would suggest the Datejust as a one watch collection because it's a little more versatile. Not everyone wears a watch in the water.
But Fed, if you want to stand out anywhere... Vostok Amphipia! How many have you seen in your tarvels this year?🤔😂

Rolex Submariner 5513 was my war watch as a Naval officer back in the 1970s. It was a gift from my parents who paid about $300 for it new from the AD. I still have lot of memories of tough times and good times come back every time I get it out and look at it. Although I have many nicer watches today, it's fair to say that watch is the most perfect because of it's basic functionality, durability, and recognizability----let's face it, it's a truly iconic watch.

Hey Fed...When I got married many years ago I wore my two tone Sub! It was my first Rolex I bought in my mid 20’s and I still have it 30+ years later. I fully agree the Sub is the way to go for 1 lux watch collection.

I think the perfect watch doesn't exist, otherwise we all have the same watch. Submariner is beautiful, but for people who aren't in the "watch game" is only a status symbol. Sorry from the english, i hope it's written right.
Best regards from Italy

Fed, thought you would say VC Overseas. I have a gen 2. Fits all occasions. Also lets me fly under the radar. Most "normal" people have no idea of the pedigree.

IMO Rolex Submariner or Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. The original diving watches.
