The New Nissan Rogue 2022 (Nissan X Trail 2022) - Walkaround

While its name conjures up images of bad-boy antics, the Nissan Rogue for 2022 is a standard small crossover with no such attitude. The Nissan Rogue is attractively sculpted, but it's no athlete, and it lacks the fun-to-drive personality of the Mazda CX-5 or Volkswagen Tiguan. The Rogue's strong qualities are its practicality and value, with a big cabin, ample storage space, and a slew of standard and optional features that SUV buyers seek, including various high-tech infotainment and driver-assistance features. If you like the Rogue but require a third row of seats, this is the car for you. The mechanically comparable Mitsubishi Outlander provides a similar experience while accommodating two additional people. For 2022, the Rogue's sluggish 2.5-liter four-cylinder will be replaced with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower. The CVT transmission in the Rogue has also been updated, and it is supposed to help with acceleration and fuel economy.

The SV model, which is priced in the middle, has the finest combination of features for the money. 18-inch aluminum wheels, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a 360-degree exterior camera system, and Nissan's ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous driving mode are among the features. The SV Premium option, which includes a panoramic sunroof, a power-operated rear liftgate, roof rails, and faux-leather upholstery, is also something we'd consider.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2.5-liter normally aspirated four-cylinder engine in the Rogue will be phased out in 2022 in favor of a smaller but more potent turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 201 horsepower. The Rogue comes standard with a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT) and front-wheel drive, same as the previous year's model; all-wheel drive is an option. Last year's Rogue was criticized for its sluggish acceleration, but during our quick test drive of the new turbo three, the compact crossover seemed livelier. We'll update this post with test findings whenever we get an opportunity to take the Rogue with the upgraded engine to our test track.
