RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - CAN'T STOP GUITAR TUTORIAL - ALL SECTIONS + SOLO

*TAB varies slightly to my lesson, but the TAB is likely more 'correct'. Let me explain..
The difference is the D note, the 2nd root note in the riff. I play it open D string, because the recording sounds so twangy and it rings out, I always presumed it was the open D. However, it could be the 5th fret on the A string, especially seen as I can now hear a brief open A before the root note changes again. Apologies if this confuses the general viewer. I chose this riff because I got a new strat and it sounded great to me at the time. Anyone who is at a level to play this riff should be able to get their head around this explanation and see which way they prefer. Hope this helps!

I really appreciate how you put much effort in your clothes so they match the song or what the video's about

On the CMajor7 if anyone is cursed with small hands like me where it simply isn't possible to get my thumb far enough over the neck to affect both the 6th and 5th string the following might be helpful....

It's never going to be possible for someone with my hands (as far as I can see) to fret the 6th and mute the 5th however advanced I get if my thumb simply can't reach over but what I do is, rather than playing the chord with open-chord-like fingering as you show in the video (i.e. fretting the first string individually with your first finger), I play it with my first finger as a barre so that I can then use the bog-standard barring technique of using the tip of my first finger to mute the 5th string and with my teeny-tiny hands I can also just (only just) reach the tip of my thumb above the fretboard to mute the 6th so I end up at least with good and quite easy muting for the top 2 strings. It's not perfect (it doesn't fret the 6th string) but if one is comfortable with barre chords i.e. with using the tip of the first/barre-ing finger to mute the 6th string on an AMinor or C shape or mute the 5th string on a D shape then using the tip of the first finger to mute the 5th string on the CMajor7 seems to me the most natural way to do it.

What a lovely strat. What model is it. Looks like it’s proper vintage 60S reissue with nitro finish.

Are you muting the E string on The B minor chord during the chorus?

How would you create that kind of clean, raspy sound on a fender 15g? (Haven’t gotten my @r$e around to buy a new amp and now I’m kicking myself for it because I love this song!)
