The Golden State Warriors defeat the New Orleans Pelicans 147-140 for their 6th straight win. Steph Curry led the Warriors' charge with 41 points on 11-of-22 shooting, including nine triples. Curry becomes the first player in NBA history to record eight or more 3-pointers in three straight games. Steph Curry never anointed himself as the leader. Warriors owners and management liked his character and personality and chose him to be the captain so the team can build a culture around him. They literally got the pieces to fit his style and personality: jovial, loose, and helping others get better. He leads by example, not by talk. He never throws his teammates under the bus. He is respected and loved. Yes, loved. Andre Iguodala said when they won their first championship, "When I grow up, I wanna be just like Steph." Kyrie needs to take a page out of Steph's book because although Kyrie is an incredible player and putting in conscious effort in doing the right things, his constant declaration that he is the leader won't win hearts. He's way too vocal with his thoughts and all that talk about showing his teammates what a championship team is about comes off as patronizing. He needs to stop talking about leadership and do his job quietly, like how Steph does it. Earn the respect of his teammates and they will follow. Let the team anoint him.
