Giants head coach Brian Daboll addressed the decision not to have another kicker active after Graham Gano was injured on the opening play. Daboll, when asked about his level of concern for his job, stated the focus remains on the team and not himself.

Football coaches in general have very little regard for kickers, even though kickers are responsible for a VERY HIGH % of points scored in the NFL...Effectively, this means that kickers make or break coaching success and even careers...Bottom line, Daboll should have trusted a Scottish Rugby player in the form of Gillan to make the additional kicks. Instead, Daboll went with the much lower percentage chances of two point PATs and 4th & 4 instead of 40 yard FG attempt and lost the game. Yes, Gillan missed the PAT once, but a warm up on sidelines with snap and hold into the net would have gotten the Giants the win. Trust me, Gillan can kick PATs and 40 yd FGs all day long...Problem is, Daboll DIDN'T trust Gillan and it cost him and NYG

Keep Schoen and Daboll for another season and give him a chance to draft a franchise qb. If there’s no improvement after next season then we can move on. I know Daboll is a great coach… would be a shame to let him go over something beyond his control.
