Flow was incredible. Catch it in theaters if you can, it’s truly awesome on the big screen. My family just watched Away, too, worth checking out if you like Flow. I’m so inspired by Gints’ interviews. I’ve returned to playing with an animation project I abandoned years ago after seeing Flow. it’s great to see someone unknown, in a small country, create their own “film school” experience and reach this level. I’m glad he has stayed devoted to the independent art and not been sucked into a big entertainment studio. You can see his genuine enthusiasm in this video for what each director does uniquely well. I watched FLOW for the 2nd time yesterday New Year’s Eve 2024 and it is now my favorite film of all time beating out all the other auteur cinema on my list. I haven’t been impacted by a film like this in a long time - if you very. I can’t get it out of my head.

I just came home from a screening, my second in less than a week, of Flow and it's excellent and the best film of 2024 and it belongs in the Criterion closet already. It pleases me to see how much I share the director's taste in film. The Qatsi Trilogy is rarely mentioned in these Closet Picks, but I have watched Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi on dvd a ridiculous amount of times. Naqoyqatsi is inferior but it has a strong opening scene and a magnificent score by Philip Glass. Just try the sadness of Massman on for size!

I have no idea who he is, but his picks are outstanding! People forget about After Hours, but whenever I hear of Griffin Dunne doing anything, this film is what I think of first. Based on his choices, I never saw Woman In The Dunes, but maybe I need to!
