Thanks for taking the time after work to roll around with me. Let's hangout again soon!

The Mercury Sable is good for driving to grandma's house were you can go in basement and open the closet that she doesn't want you to open. She says to stay out of the shadows. Grandma says that if you walk in shadows, you will become a "shadow man." The state took her license away last year so you can drive her car. You had to eat Taco Bell for three days straight to fart her smell out of the upholstery.

Best friend in high school had a Taurus and it looked 15 years old when it was brand new.

These may be the most brilliant car reviews I've ever seen.  I can't stop watching.

The Sable was the vehicle for those that saw cars as an appliance, nothing more. Acceleration with the Vulcan V6 was best described as "eventual".

My friend had the Taurus version and it blew a head gasket while drag racing me in my moms Windstar with the same engine.

So true. These cars are being beat to shit by every weed-smoking high schooler in the nation.

He got it right at the end of the video...these are cars that just keep crawling along. My sister has had 2 of them and they both just kept going, no matter how horrible she treated it. Both were close to 300k mileage when destroyed in accidents.
They aren't pretty...lots of little things go wrong...they aren't well engineered..but somehow it just keeps plodding along.

I drove a 2000 Mercury Sable with a Vulcan to college. It was a fantastic car.

There is one good thing about the Vulcan V6 they'll run forever and almost can't kill them.

I had a 2002 Ford Taurus, and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no way the suspension is softer in the Mercury Sable. It wouldn't support the car anymore. That being said. I sold it with over 215k on the odometer. I treated that car like dirt, and it just came back for more. The A/C compressor died and caused an overheating issue, but once that was disabled it ran just fine. The headlights were so fogged over that if you didn't use a restoration kit on them every year you couldn't drive it at night. It was rusted completely through on the rear quarter panels, but I made a $25 profit when I sold it. The Vulcan engine is the most boring motor that I have ever had in a car. It doesn't rev, it doesn't make power, it gets mediocre gas mileage, it doesn't sound good, and it's not very light. It takes forever to warm up on a cold day, and there will always be a small oil leak somewhere (mine was so slow that you didn't have to add between oil changes). It will always smell like oil, but you'll never bother to fix it because... you paid $300 for the car... and then sold it for $325 after you put 15k miles on it.

I know this video is 648 years old, but I had an '01 Sable LS Premium with the Duratec back in my day. It was a great car. Good power (for the time), good features. Complaints? Rear head room and the trunk. It wasn't a bad trunk, per se. There was plenty of room in that trunk, but the opening to it was awful. Still, she was a great car back then. I miss her like I miss the one that got away. Yeah, I traded up to a superior vehicle, but there's not a day that's passed by, even to this day, that I don't miss her and how good she was to me. I wouldn't mind having her back.

I had a 1999 Sable that lasted until 2009 before I put it out to pasture. In high school, I came to appreciate the value of that middle front seat. Good times.

96 Taurus here, 225K miles and still going.
it has broken down, and I have fixed it...
Why? Why not? Still runs great, I still drive it like a mad man, and she likes it.

I currently own a 2002 Taurus with the Vulcan engine and 165, 000 miles. I am an absolute leadfoot and I am planning a track day in January. Can't wait to hoon my grocery getter at Thunderhill. Only wish I had the DOHC Duratec...
