As a Bassmaster open pro I get this question quite a bit. It's more about the where as in finding than it is what they are biting. A lot of the same baits work as other times of the year just slower. Crawl a crankbait instead of ripping it like you're having a seizure. As in the where. They aren't as far from shallow water as people think (lake dependent) some lakes fish live offshore year round other places fish live shallow. Deep banks, mouths of creeks, drains, ditches.
