The Kwai sounds elegant with a beautiful sound. I have a digital Yamaha CLP695 and the difference is quite dramatic…..love the Kwai

Superb comparison Graham. Yiur energy and passion for the piano is brilliant, so is your playing, fantastic. I would love either it's just having the room for one. Nice one.

Thank you for this great comparison. I loved the Kawai sound more. Sounds are more separated and clean and also less resonated and less bright.

1:22 vs 3:12

Kawai has a deeper bass and better separation and better blending overtone.

I prefer the Kawai, although I think the tuning on the Yamaha is slightly out so hard to compare

Thanks Graham! Imagine my surprise when I found your demonstrations AFTER seeing you on Britains Got Talent?! I truly enjoy listening to you play. One day I will play as well as you do! Merry Christmas!

Funny thing: We own a Kawai upright piano and it sounds similiar to the baby grand. So when I buy a baby grand from Kawai, I would feel instantly at home.

You're very charming and personable. I subscribed just because you are. :-) Oh, and the piano sounds lovely, too! Is it brand new?

The Kawai had a midrange of clarity but the harmonics of the bass and the high tremble do not mesh well together. The bass is louder than that of the Yamaha but the harmonics are not cohesive, the higher tremble fizzles out and does sustain its definitive tone for very long. I prefer the Yamaha because it's very singable and the harmonics from the bass, midrange, and treble mesh well together. The Yamaha sustains its notes very well. Yamaha really took this into consideration when building its grand pianos.

Great video! I can’t help like the Yamaha more. I know that many classical pianists love the Kawai, and I get that it has this hard-to-describe deeper tone, but Graham looked like he was working harder to get the Kawai up to volume, especially on the last song. The Yamaha seems to want to sing. It’s like the Kawai has an EQ placed over it that dampens the mid-range and some
high range a little. I would be frustrated playing a piano that I would struggle to get volume
from especially in the mid range. But that’s my perception from a distance.

Personaly I think the yamaha is like an over exposed image just too perfect in other words doesn't leave room for the piano sound to resonate

The Yamaha sounds better in the treble.
But the Kawai has a better bass.
