In this McKnight's Workforce Development Forum webinar, participants will learn why the principles of Trauma Informed Care (TIC) are important to apply not only to residents, but to employees as well. Since the inception of the TIC regulation (FTag-699), organizations have solely focused on trauma as it relates to their residents. However, new original research by KARE demonstrates the importance of understanding trauma in your workforce. This study offers invaluable insights into the intersection of adverse childhood experiences, impacts on physical and mental health from COVID-19, and workplace well-being.

Learning objectives

-Understanding trauma: Participants will gain an understanding of how trauma impacts their employees.
-Understanding the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) study: Participants will develop an understanding of the original Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study, the impact of ACEs on an individual’s physical, emotional, and mental health across the lifespan. Participants will learn how pervasive this is in the long-term care workforce.
-Implementing Trauma-Informed Practices: Participants will explore strategies for integrating trauma informed practices into workplace culture aimed at fostering resilience and promoting well-being among staff members affected by trauma.
