Kirk Hammett hit that high ping note without a wammy bar on the original track, he said that he accidentally pinched a harmonic and made it squeal and they kept it on the solo track.

I found a pretty good hack for this solo, Put on the album and listen to it a few times to get the rhythm down then put the guitar down and play like an imaginary guitar in the air while you play the song. I have never missed a note since i started doing this one crazy hack that musicians don't want you to know!
