This video is the answer, thank you so much! Skip the quick release knob hidden inside the rear door, which itself can stick and will kill your fingertips only to snap if you pull it too hard. This solution takes 5 seconds to return my i3 from the brink of needing a flatbead to the dealer. You made my day.

And this is how I ruined my charger port lock. There is an emergency reales for this thing right under the suicide door. DO NOT USE THIS WAY.

Would recommend sticking to something made out of plastic rather then metal. In case you get shocked.
