My Left Foot

It's a doorstop made from a resin casting of my left foot.

Your foot cast in that colour makes it look like you foot got torn out of your skin. Especially when you see the parts that blistered or didn't cure properly. It looks like the start of a Halloween decoration. You just need to add a couple of broken bones out the top and a few flaps of skin and you're good to go.

If the shop ever burns down that is really going to confuse some firemen. It's going to be a whole thing. I would suggest not letting that happen. Maybe for some other reasons too.

You should make a mold of both your hands forming a bowl shape or something similar. And make the worlds weirdest snack bowl, which would actaully be great for halloween. Kids come by and you bring forward a candy bowl made of hands.

You should try putting those orbeeze balls in the stabilizing resin! You don't have to bake them, you can put them in a plastic bag and warm water to finish stabilizing them!

That'd make an interesting bowl, chandelier, or some other type of art!

Plus it would be interesting to see how long it would take for the balls to fill up under pressure!

Mr. Brown, I think if you were to use a pressure pot, you would be able to have the resin cure faster.

I use the 24 hour curing time resin, I'm not even sure what the name is. But if I use my pressure pot, the resin is solid after 2-3 hours for a smaller piece and then 4-6 hours for a larger piece.

Hit up some paint pressure pot company and see if they would sponsor a video for a 10 gallon pot!!! You'll just need to build a stand for it to lay on it's side if you're wanting to do this again!

I think it'd be funny to have Mrs. B, your daughters, and your foot as door stoppers in your house haha

I work with FX makeup a bit, which requires a life cast in some cases, of people's faces... alginate is great if you are using a quick setting casting material such as plaster, but it does sweat over time so long setting times are ill-advised. I suggest trying again with a skin safe silicone, I like to use smooth on brand "Body double silk" life casting silicone personally. You can find skin safe silicone pretty cheap though and it doesn't sweat, so long setup times for resin shouldn't be an issue. Just be aware that some silicone can be rather stiff so maybe look for a soft one to help provide a bit of stretch so you can wiggle your casting subject out of the mould. Also, mould release is strongly advised, which can be as simple as a thin coat of Vaseline/ petroleum jelly over your skin. They even make spray-on mould release that could be useful. Just a suggestion.
