What if someone sends you an anonymous letter claiming you saw them the previous day, and smiled at them too?
Such was the case with about 50,000 women in Spain in 1994!
The recipient was first showered with praise, and was then 'encouraged' to go on an adventure. The letter also mentioned that they ""Only want a few minutes with you""
Creeped out yet?
As a result, many women took extensive safety precautions, and informed the police, suspecting that a stalker was after them!
Well, it was a stalker, not but one we think. The letters were in fact a marketing gimmick by carmaker fiat, who launched this 'campaign' to promote their new launch!
Quite obviously, the campaign was a failure, and resulted in multiple lawsuits being filed against the company!
Wildly enough, the company got away with a mere fine of $1100
