Battlefield 1: Giant's Shadow Map Guide

Battlefield 1's first free map is here. In Giant's Shadow, players battle on the French countryside for control of the Cateau-Wassigny railway.

In conquest, some of the most intense combat on the map takes place over the wreckage of a crashed airship. Fighting is close-quarters among explosive hydrogen tanks.

Although the airship is destroyed, its 20mm Becker cannons remain. You'll find them in the wrecked gondolas on either side of its steel skeleton. These weapons do serious damage to enemy infantry, vehicles, and even the enemy armored train behemoth. They can also be used to defend against aerial attacks. There are natural choke-points at openings in the wreckage, so concentrate firepower at those positions.

Away from the downed zeppelin, fighting moves into open fields, ideal for snipers and tanks. To move effectively, pay attention to the map’s topography - look for natural cover in the form of hills and structures. These break the line of sight, making easier to out-maneuver and flank the enemy.

Giant's Shadow is a large map, and packed with vehicles. If the enemy is dominating the battlefield, use them to capture objectives near their spawn and throw off their attack. To counter vehicles in conquest, you'll find the tank hunter elite class at the upper crash site.

Excellent tips, Flakfire. My only gripe with the downed airship is that those hydrogen tanks survived the crash. Ballast tanks I'd expect, but those things should be gone. Petty, I know.

As an Assault who plays objective I love this map. I thrive inside the behemoth and at B. I use the hills the keep me hidden when I work my way over to the center or to the enemy side.

Ok here's a tip for giant's shadow if your on a air plane there is flat field near the German spawn that you could use to repair on

New subscriber here. I like the channel, but It would be great to see your videos be longer than a couple of minutes. Your presentation and analysis of the maps are top notch, so maybe go more in depth on conquest maps (Best way to play BF1 in my opinion) and cover the different nuances of each flag location for example. Keep up the great work!

The map needs balancing. Most objectives are close to the German spawn. Unless you get over to the other side of the map as quick as possible as the British you're basically screwed.

I play this map last night and it was pretty epic tho, but the fog is really, really annoy me. It was the hardest to see and very realistic. Anyone feel the same way about this map and the fog?
