I think the best piece of advise you offered years ago was if you could swing it financially, have a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke. I have both and love the differences.

Hey I just moved to Tucson and will be getting a smoker in the next 6 months. But I don't know anyone or anywhere here and it's so hard to meet people these days I'm 45 and would love to find folks near me. Thanks my good man. Have loved your videos for years

Thanks for the explanation. Bought my 2-stroke TPI back in 2020 and in the back of my mind I thought it wasn't running right. Now I've honestly just accepted that's the way it's supposed to be and I just enjoy it. It's great! Just get on the gas!

I'm into my 1st year of enduro riding. First ever enduro bike and 2 stroke a 23 gagas ec 300. For the first 15/20 hours absolutely hated it. Not smooth going slow, ripping my arms off all the time and fighting me.

Turned the power valve in 1.5 full turns, and added a fly wheel weight. Now I'm at 40 hours, I feel like I actually know how to ride it, and I love it. Smooth down low and still pulls like train when needed.

Looks like you are moving on pretty good to me! Looks fun! I have rode two stroke bikes for a very long time. What happens on all of mine is when you are at nuetral throttle (that is what i call it) that is no forward drive but also not closed throttle with engine being driven by the rear tire is when that popping and crackling happens. The only load on the motor is the motor itself. Two strokes have very little engine drag such as the cam chain valves and the extra two strokes that a four stoke has. I love two stroke bikes and love the sounds they make! Looks like a great day and a great place to ride!

This year I switched from a 2018 crf450r to a 2024 ktm 250sx and learned one thing, it's about the smiles per hour. The fuel injection doesn't leave me wanting more. Great all arounder.

I have a '17 300 xc that used to do that at crushing. Put a high compression head with a Lectron carb with needle specifically for the head. Also went two teeth bigger on the rear sprocket. It seems to be the sweet spot for my riding style and 215 lb fat arse. Don't notice the roughness at cruising nearly as much as before the modifications.

I raced the cinders AZOP race last year on a '22 300 XCW and it ripped. Wide open on most long whoop straights and responsive in the tight single track. I love it. You're right about throttle control though, it handles great on single track too 🤘

Almost sold the bike for this issue because it doesn’t run the same as my 4 stroke. Thanks for this

I have a 24 300xc TBI bike. Well
My GF decided she wanted to learn to ride dirt bike as well, so now I’ve been constant throttle chugging around 1st, 2nd gear. Man I’ve been noticing more smoke, sputtering etc etc I had to just tell her “if I take off I just need to clear the bike out” it just needs to be ran harder and get on that pipe. Bike runs super strong but chugging around constant rpm and throttle the motor just doesn’t seem to like.

I think it's important to write that your two smoker will happily run down the road at 40 miles per for an hour and longer. The motor will burble and surge a bit but the bike is perfectly fine. It just sounds and acts differently than a thumper. A.J. Waggoner of Service Honda CR500AF fame once told me about a street legal 500AF that he built, thinking it was going to be the ultimate commuter. It was a horrible one though, because it always wanted to be on the pipe and surged and bucked a bit as he would keep a steady cruising speed. The bike was much more enjoyable on a track either accelerating or slowing but not steady cruising.

If it’s a two-stroke and it doesn’t have a Keihin carb on it, I’m not buying it. Enough said lol
