Swedish company Saab has presented, as the developers claim, the world's most advanced next-generation submarine. Kockums A26 submarine is equipped with GHOST - Genuine HOlistic STealth system, which allows it to be virtually invisible to radars in this mode. The submarine is capable of operating in normal mode for 45 days, and for 18 days the submarine can stay underwater without access to the atmosphere. The sub also has a compartment that will allow special forces divers to leave the ship and return to it underwater. The new modification of the non-nuclear submarine A26 received vertical launchers for cruise missiles.
According to the company representative, the launchers can house different missiles, but the main armament for A26 will be American Tomahawk cruise missiles. The submarine is propelled by a diesel-stirling-electric propulsion system consisting of a Stirling system engine with an alternator and several electric motors.

Hey, just kind of a heads up for you the next time you're talking about submarines Make sure you say sonar not radar

I bet it's 100% invisible to Radar without using the Ghost system.🤔🤔🤔

These are specifically built for Littoral Action, especially on fjords and broken shore line like the coastline of Scandinavia.
This is NOT a "Blue Water" long distance sub. It is VERY good for what it does.

I wonder if any of them are in commission and have recently had a pipeline painted on the sail.

Would want to find this submarine on my radar. I hope I can find it on my sonar

RADAR? He said, “RADAR!” Joking. Isn’t that funny?

Most of you missed the point! This ghost mode enables mach 1.2 sea skimming and remains invisible to radar by opponent surface ships.
That otta surprise the hell out of them.

Basically sounds like it was made to blow up Nord stream…

"Has a stealth system making the sub virtually invisible to radar" lol.

Most subs are invisible to radar when submerged, how does it do against sonar?

Still sounds like a nice setup. I like that it now has vertical launch cells.

Albeit the sub has an ultimately quiet propulsion system, one has to wonder the technology used on the propulsor, the screw? This tech allowed the sub to appear in the middle of a carrier task force, the tech is amazing & the sponsoring country has worked with the US Navy to determine tech to ways to detect.

Swedish subs have long been at the forefront. We "sunk" a Nimitz class air craft carrier with full support, without being detected back during an exercise. Quite amazing for such a small country imo ☺️

These subs are quieter than nuclear subs. They managed to sink the US carrier undetected in a recent war game exercise. Cool tech.

Wait! Did he just say ‘radar!?” 😂🙈Doh! 😂

They dont advertise it, but its a much different engine than conmon sterling..having 8 combustion chambers and much higher thrust ratio

All good…
Now bring back Saabs beloved cars… !?

Personally, I think the US should have a mix of both nuclear and diesel electric /non-nuclear submarines (majority of fleet made up of nuclear due to long duration patrol ability, with two to five non-nuclear for special operations), at least until solid state nuclear power systems can be developed for submarines (certain types of fusion reactor power systems and theoretical fission systems that can generate electricity without spinning turbines). Purchase from Sweden or Germany seems a cost effective way of doing this.

If I recall correctly during a NATO exercise that Sweden had been asked to participate in back in 2005. A small cheap Swedish diesel electric sub “sank” a US aircraft carrier two days into the exercise. Everyone assumed it was a fluke so they reset and began again. Then the Swedes did again and again and again. Apparently the Swedes had developed a propulsion system so sophisticated it was virtually undetectable.
So if the Swedes say they have built a sub virtually undetectable to sonar. Believe them.
