You usually don´t sketch radii unless they are really critical, that´s a 3D feature, Sketches should be as simple as possible.
With sketches you can also try out different kinematics and move stuff around, every software does it a little different but generally sketching for 2D kind of stuff this is really useful for the initila concept phase. From there on you can move to surface designs with all sorts of lofting features for complex geometry.
