Why don't you use Home Assistant?

Homekit is the way forward. Especially when you throw an Apple TV into the mix and start getting things like your doorbell popping up on screen (picture in picture). Apple shortcuts then just take the whole system to another level. Throw in homebridge and then there really are no limitations.

Would definitely make a full switch to homekit (I have some stuff in there now) if Apple made a display for in the kitchen. That's what I miss the most going full in on homekit.
