i live here in the Springs and I have another fun fact to share. I took my granddaughter to Santa's Village that is on Pike's Peak Highway. There we rode the ferris wheel. It is claimed that that ferris wheel is the highest one in the not tallest one, the highest. We had a great time at the Village by the way.

I am born and raised in Colorado Springs for Generations now. my daughter is 5th gen. born here at Memorial Hospital. Most people don't know this but only 9 Congressional Medals of honor were given in the Civil War, and 4 of the recipients of that medal are buried here in Evergreen Cemetery. One of which is our founder Gen. William Jackson Palmer. he also had our streets laid out at a 45 degree angle to Pikes Peak so that no structures could block the view of America's Mountain from anywhere else in the original city's layout.

I also live in the Springs but something cool we have here is Cheyenne Canyon. Cheyenne Canyon houses a load of cool trails but one of them is Seven bridges which most people know about but what most people don't know about is whats beyond the 7th bridge. It's about 6 miles out but if you hike it you will eventually find Louds cabin which is this old cabin from like 1902 or so, very cool area and 10/10 would recommend hiking up to it.

I thought I would mention something else. Bob Womack, the man who discovered gold in Cripple Creek, lived in Colorado Springs. My maternal grandmother was a Womack and a distant cousin of Bob. The Old Colorado City area, where I live, was mainly brothels along that section of Colorado Avenue at that time. Bob Womack would get drunk, ride his horse up the steps of the brothels and end up getting arrested. It was a frequent past time of his. We've had some very colorful characters in our history.

I flew from San Antonio, 800 feet above sea level, to the Springs and immediately drove straight up to Pike's Peak. Oh boy that was a mistake. I was so dopey and nearly passed out, I could barely stay conscious to drive back down. I was 58 years old, that would never have affected me when I was younger!

I love that you can feed (and pet) the giraffes at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I don't know if that's unique to our zoo or if it's pretty common at zoos but I still love it.

Hi, born and raised in colorado springs, one of my favorite places is cave of the winds. A little fun fact is that cave of the winds has the second highest cave elevation in north america. I also love feeding the giraffes at the zoo.

I just went up Pikes Peak again, and the new Visitors Center is completely different. They've remodeled the entire top of the mountain. It's much more touristy now, more organized with walkways, which is fine, it gets a lot of tourists. Definitely worth a ride up again. And they still sell the donuts, so no worries there!

Cool vid! Just a heads up, I’m a Colorado Railroader… Pikes Peak is great, but definitely not the highest in the world. Peru, Bolivia, and China have higher railroads. Definitely worth a ride tho.

I have friends who live in an old mansion next to Miramont in Manitou (the castle in this video). Don't forget about Glen Eyrie built by CS founder General Palmer which is actually in CS. I used to be the organizer for the TESLA steampunk group and some times gave lectures on Tesla. His lab in 1899 wasn't where the plaque is in Memorial park but about a half dozen blocks away on what would eventually be southeast of the corner of Kiowa and Foote. Those roads weren't there when he was there, but we were able to figure this out from the description what he could see from his lab, the D&B School, the Union Printer's Home and his lab's position from one of the only existing streets.
