I BOUGHT AN AMAZING SYNTH (My first five patches on the Novation Summit)

I recently decided to invest in my education, my inspiration, my tool set for sound design and composing and keyboard proficiency: I bought a Novation Summit. This is a Desert Island synth for me! Sounds I didn't know I needed. Here's a somewhat rambling dive into the first five patches I made on this beautiful machine, each of which is a complex new instrument of its own.

So I'm learning, all at once:
-How to make sounds from scratch
-How to play piano (and these new keyboard sounds that behave differently from a traditional piano)
-Video skillz lol (For almost all the time I'm too zoomed in to see my hands, except on the closeup-cam... oops).

Come on a journey with me, through the vast synth universe.

Congratulations on your new synthesizer! I think it was a perfect choice. Creating sounds is very interesting to me and those patches were good. I think you have the same enthusiasm as me when it comes to sound creation. :-)

I'm a musician living in Finland. I usually play drums and keyboard instruments. Ten years ago or so I started to learn a bit about synthesis and sound creation. I wanted a vintage style analog synth with hands-on control. I had some real vintage synths at first (still have those) but then I also bought a Novation Bass Station II. That synth was important because I could also save my sounds to the synth itself or to my computer. Naturally, I ended up making hundreds of sounds with it. After that I wanted to have a polyphonic synth and lately I've also bought a Novation Supernova II. I would really like to have the Novation Summit someday as well.

I wish you'd make more of these videos. It's cool to see and hear what new sounds you've come up with. You seem quite knowledgeable already with the envelopes and LFOs etc. so you might not need any tutorials. I'll still give you this one link. Daniel Fisher is a great guy and in this video he creates some well known sounds, which you might find quite familiar. He's using a Novation Peak and it's fully compatible with the Summit. It's a perfect video for a start and some of those sounds might inspire you to make some interesting variations out of them:

I enjoyed the video and I like what you're doing. Keep it up! Take care and have a wonderful day.

I got a summit too. I think it's one of the best nowadays poly's available. Sure, DSI is great stuff. But I don't feel the summit is any less. Love the beast!

Thanks for the video, very enjoyable cause your humble way of comparing your background with actual instruments with venturing to the electronic ladyland. Do you know if its possible to hook up Ipad or any external device with that kinda piano sample and modulate it in real time with the Summit in a way it would be controllable in blend wise. Meaning with its knobs or even with mod wheel to create some analogue synth atmosphere, the noise and hiss or pads combined with the piano sample attack? Prophet X has it as its thing, but getting something like that with the summit
