This is similar to how you can put the breaks on a bully. For me, ruminating is like a bully in my head. Your solution is perfect and it works! Thank you!!!

This advice has unironically changed my life. Combined this with gratitude journaling, automatic thoughts journaling, and meditating 3x a day (morning, after gym, and night). Feel very present and calm 😃. Haven’t done any rumination (verbally talking to myself) in 5 days. This was a lifelong habit I learned from my parents lol. Never thought I’d be able to stop.

I just repeat "we do not care" lol. Me, myself and I do not care. It's weird, but it helps. But I love the idea of agreeing with it. That helps you stop trying to argue with yourself or try to "problem solve"

On the first listen, I thought this sounded like the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Imagine agreeing with my most critical judgments of myself and thinking that would do me good. But then I tried it out, and it really works. When you just agree with the voice, and follow it with a shrug and dismissal, it really does take the power away from the anxiety.

My issue is everything feels logical and sound to me. It’s really easy for me to believe certain things are true

Thank you. So much. I was going through a heavy cycle of puke inducing stress and anxiety to the point where I was driven to depression and lost my will to live. Day by day I would look for videos like this seeking a solution to end my cycle of nervous thinking, but none of them seemed to do it. This one, in particular, was not only powerful, but knowledgable and wisdomful. I thank you oh so much for alleviating my suffering, and with that I can finally carry on.

"Maybe i did, maybe i didn't🤷🏼‍♀️" that's a really good response!!! It sounds so simple but it's a great example that I'm gonna keep in mind!!!

this is the best thing i’ve heard thus far on how to deal with rumination. sooo many tips offer meditation or distraction or sitting a thinking or validating. this is an amazing skill that i can do repeatedly on my own, and sometimes have fun with it. i hope i remember this when it happens to me!

Yeah it's a very tough task...because for a lot of people, it's automatic. And people who say just stop...right. It's not like stopping taking a walk. It's like stopping....breathing. Yeah, just stop. Ughh, hearing people say that is so frustrating. It just shows they have no idea what it's like.

I always send your videos to my patients with ocd and anxiety. I know you’ve helped me understand better about how ocd works and how to stop it. I love your online course too. Thank you for sharing your information. You should write a book.

It takes a lot for me to respect someone as much as this guy that earned my respect fully

This has helped me with door locks and minor OCD worries. I leave and I'm like "did I lock the door??" And I just tell my OCD "well...we can walk all the way back home to check just to know that the answer is yes bc its ALWAYS yes...or we can leave it unchecked and if it's unlocked, it'll be fine."

Saved your video to my library. Even though it's a short video. Our responsive mechanisms are imbalanced when we try to satisfy our anger/fear. We don't fuel it by giving it what it wants. Ignore it and it'll die out.
