It looks amazing. But it looks like the most sadistic way to animate

Holy. Moly. This has made me reconsider everything I thought about drawing directly in AE with shape layers.

This was awesome. My one big advice is to design everything in Illustrator instead using closed paths and separate all your "animatable" parts into layers. This will import beautifully into AE and convert to shapes no problem.

If only my after effect doesn’t crash every 3 minutes

Preach on, Finally, someone who speaks the truth about Motion Design, Rigs, and their limiting ability... Can you please make more stuff, and make the animation available like it was on Hold Frame?

Please never take down this video from Youtube. It's so well done and so nice to refind it from time to time to get inspired!

this video is criminally underrated and under-watched

Love how it looks and moves a lot
Good job man!

That’s the proof that when you make what everyone say is madness, you will have an awesome result. Cheers, mate. What a good work!
kenjolino
That's impressive. I've never actually seen anyone essentially draw their animation frames in AE like that. Good work.
YaBoiSquidster
this was incredible man, is the first video that i seen that shows how to make a animation with different angles in after effects, looks like is traditional but its not. AWESOME WORK
elTinez
This was BRUTAL all along, it looks amazing!

wow when i saw this i thought surely you had to go to photoshop to create some frame by frame motion at but how you animated completely with shapes and vectors is crazy! This method seems so unnatural to traditional animating with strokes, but you did it so well. Really shows how software and techniques shouldn't limit you but just be treated as another tool for artists to experiment with. BIG THANKS for the insight!! I'm gonna try this out!!!!

I’ve been trying to teach myself ae and this just gave me so much insight, thanks for walking us through the process

Wow, this is unbelievable. I'm always amazed by what you can do in After Effects

The amount of patience you have...this is awesome

I'm gonna be honest, i've never thought about working with shapes like this, I'm very impressed how well it works

I just want to say that this tutorial has taught me so many little things that i never thought of doing before thanks, man!
adstut
he said a little bit helpful, THIS HELPS A LOT, thank you

Omg your way of animating makes soooo much sense. Been looking at AE a long time but never thought of animating like this. Would have broke my ass with frame by frame instead. But this is so obvious and yet this is the first time I have seen something like this. I see myself trying this out.
