Joe Biden meets with Indian PM Modi in a virtual summit

US President Joe Biden has met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a virtual summit in Washington.

On top of the agenda was India’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine after it recently chose to abstain from a vote to suspend Moscow from its seat at the UN Human Rights Council.

India continues to purchase Russian gas despite ongoing pressure from the west.

President Biden has urged Mr Modi to consider his country's close ties to the US and the west.
