As a lawyer for 43 years, I can see numerous legal issues here arising from the Commissioner emphasizing marketing over safety, failing to ensure safety of players by encouraging rivalry and racism, failing to ensure integrity of the game by using inept referees. With Paige Bueckers and Lucy Olsen next year and JuJu Watkins not long after, the marketing will take care of itself. The commissioner's job is to protect those players and make it fun to watch those games, and don't screw anything up. That's it. Rivalries grow organically not manufactured by the media and the league. Prime example, CC v AR, they play different styles and different positions, the push of the dbl-dbl streak, yes it was impressive until it looked forced and became a joke. If you listened to the media, this was the most impressive thing to ever happen in sports. In the aftermath, the league looked ridiculous, a coach was fired (not entirely because of this), and a player was ridiculed.
