What is the best CPU for 1156 socket? i7 880, X3440 or X3470?

In this video I will try to explain which CPU is the best for the old 1156 platform and why. I know there are still many owners of motherboards based on this socket. If you think your platform is too old and you desperately need to replace it with a newer one, don't hurry. Maybe you will be satified with this cheap and still quite productive CPU. It may help you to wait another year or two before fully refreshing your PC.

Glad I stumbled on this. Needed a refresher, it's been 10 years since I built my 1156/i3, recently went to see how far I could update it. I needed a quick refresher on which Lynnfield Cores were from which family, and this video was perfect! Thank you!

Amazing how some LGA 775 and most LGA 1156 motherboard were well constructed like this one, nowadays barely there is over than a PCi-e and x1 slot, usually for Wi-Fi and works for 2 through 4 years, instead of a decade and half like that!

just want to say great video, glad you took the time, plus i was so surprised that it's on a similar board as mine p7h55musb3, i found that the i5 680 runs surprisingly close to the i7 770, even temp is .2 difference, also possible to clock up to 4.05ghz and maybe more, i would rather try and hang on still before i upgrade as with a good GPU i can still keep up with a majority of games,

Thanks, well explained, the x3440 does perform much better than i5 750/760 because of HT but why bothering when you could buy the x3470 for a small difference.

I don't know what you didn't like about the X3450... This processor works very well for me ! Of course, I overclocked it to 3600 Mhz, there is no point in overclocking it anymore, since only the temperature is growing, not the performance !
RAM that overclocked to 2000 Mhz ! For this processor, the GTX 1660-S graphics card is weak and the RTX 2060-S graphics card is too powerful for this processor!
