Excel: How to Filter a Pivot Table on Date Range (4 Methods)

Mike, I'll try a question here. The reason I watched is: I'm creating a tracking system for our household expenses. So, first (in response to your question), I like the timeline solution for filtering dates. Excellent. My next challenge is figuring out how to manage categories and subcategories. I need to 1) Assign a category/subcategory for each transaction, and 2) get an analysis for a category (showing the subcategory totals) AND/OR get an analysis for a subcategory (showing each transaction). Having said all that, I'll see what other videos you have!

Fantastic ... I have worked with this type of issues on and off and hats off to you...last option is the way to go in my opinion. I do not like people messing with my filtrations lol. A data analyst friend had used power pivot and wrote a DAX function using Calculate but I just can't use what she did with the data i have

I prefer the last one, but only in connection with the instant refresh of the pivot-table, when a date of the date range is changed (VBA).
