Do former social studies teachers make good politicians?

Walz was apparently my History Professor's history teacher when she was in high school! Small world I guess.

I was watching news last night and Tim walz said that “defunding the police” was extremely bad optics and he thought we should fund and reform the police

Veteran, teacher, coach, and popular governor who legalized marijuana in his state, made school lunches free for students, gave paid leave to workers, supports unions, protects women's right to choose, has everyman vibes and rust belt appeal etc.

Yes Walz is an excellent pick!

This VP pick makes Walz the closest thing to a "dark horse" in the American politics of today.

In one month this election went from the most boring to the craziest election in American history.

I've voted for Tim Walz seven times already, and I'm pretty stoked to make it eight in November. He is as honest and straight-shooting as they come.

Admitting bias is so slay and mature. It seems like so many people try to say they’re completely objective when they’re literally not because they’re literally human. This is one of the reasons you are one of my favorite sources of information regarding politics.

I’m from Minnesota, while I don’t agree with some of his policies, Tim Walz is a straightforward and respectable leader. Very competent and happy to see him as the pick.

As a union worker I appreciate the pick of Walz. He’s always been an ally to the working class and I can agree with the pick.

Reproductive rights, free lunches, budget surplus, marijuana, free tuition, paid leave, pro-union. As a Minnesotan, couldn’t be happier with this VP pick.

Walz's policies are incredible and he's achieved policy wins in his state with a slim majority. He has the governing experience and he's the guy that started the "they're just weird" line.

I think the DUI thing won't stick. Especially since George W Bush had the whole documented history of coke use and drunk driving.

GWB was privileged and it was back before it was considered as serious so he didn't get the charge I believe (I could be wrong). But Walz got it back on the 90s, that's 30 years ago or so, and he doesn't seem to be a repeat offender. He might even have something to say about it that will resonate with general people

I see some resemblance in terms of glasses, face shape. Mr Beat for VP in like 20 years?

In Minnesota, DFL is pretty much a stand-in for the Democrats these days. It's not really considered a third-party here. I think his win as a representative was more surprising because that district has traditionally been pretty conservative. -lifelong resident of southern Minnesota

I’m an elementary school music teacher, I’m so excited to have a teacher on the ballot. Do you ever miss being in the classroom Mr. Beat?

I don't think Walz is running in 2028/2032. Either this is his 15 minutes of fame or 8 good years as Veep and then retierement. I personally think it's Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg or Gretchen Whitmer running in 2028/2032
