Smart teachers think outside the box n get the best results. Much respect to them. And parents should teach kids to listen to their teachers!

One day as a young teacher I had a loss of voice, and could barely speak.
A few minutes later I had the whole class whispering like me 😅
For the rest of my teacher life, I always whispered when I wanted them to calm down, as if I hadn't notice they were speaking loudly . Try it, it works ! Children mimic us - and so do grown up 😉

Our 3rd grade teacher be like
Here Ye Here Ye!
The class responds, All Hail the Queen.
Then silence. It’s awesome. 😂

The reason teachers can't tell your kids to shut up/be quiet anymore is because you parents would ruin their lives.
The lack of respect comes from the home first.

I can hear the teachers pet
“GO TO YOUR SEAT!!!”
“ OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING”

My dad was a substitute teacher and to get kids to be quiet, he hid a speaker and played a high frequency tone that only the kids could hear. It wasnt very loud, but suddenly all of the kids stopped talking and asked what the noise was. He ofc couldn’t hear it, it was one of those frequencies that people over 40 aren’t able to hear. Worked a charm

When I went to school at any grade level we never acted out of control. Never. When the teacher started we stopped. Even we never got loud.

A thing our school always did was clap a rhythm. Then have the kids repeat the rhythms in claps. Its loud, gets attention, makes them pay attention, and makes them shut up. Learned in elementary school and was used all the way up until we graduated high school. Idk if its common place but I feel like more people need to know

Im a daycare teacher and for the toddler classes and up whe have 2 things ee do to get everyone quiet...1: we say "bubbles" and every child hushes and puffs their mouth like theyre blowing bubbles...2: we say, "1, 2, 3 eyes on me" and evry child responds with "1, 2 eyes on you" and they are quiet and look at us. the second one works really well with the school kids class.

I stand with my hands behind my back—the kids see me and say, “Stop drop!” then rush to their seats with their hands folded on their desks. But I’m a hard-ass, so that’s how my room works.

Pretty clever! I use to be a cocktail waitress in crowded clubs. It was so loud and many people drunk that I couldn't get people to let me by. So I bought a personal alarm from radio shack that you could set to sound like a truck backing up. People would turn to see what was making the noise and Oncee I had their attention they moved out of my way. Eventually they became conditioned to step out of the isle automatically when they heard that sound. No more spilled trays, I got my drinks out faster and tripled my tips. In fact I out sold the other 5 waitresses combined.

I taught preschool 40 years ago. All I had to do was stand in the middle of the play room with one hand on my head, and a finger on my lips, and one - by - one the kids would notice me, and do the same. Within moments all the children were quiet and watching me. It was a gentle, peaceful way to attract their attention. No bells or yelling needed.

Try this: start a countdown from 10 to zero. Start out very loud to get their attention, but lower your voice for each new number. They will often join in and when you reach zero they will wispier it with you and be all quiet after. I always start every semester reminding them about this and I have used it successfully for five years now, with ages from 7 to 12.

If you could replicate the sound of an incoming text message they’d shut up.

My teacher uses a doorbell to get our attention. It's different and effective!

My English teacher has this (we are seniors in high school)

I think it works because it’s a different sound than other voices. I have an auditory processing problem in a class of talking kids all the words/ talking gets all mumble jumbled it sounds like the adults in Charlie Brown. So with the bell it sounds different than the voices so it actually gets my attention. Idk what it sounds like for other people but I assume it’s kinda similar
