Chemical Bonding part 3 Ionic Compounds and their Physical Properties

In this tutorial, ionic compounds and their general physical properties are discussed. Specifically, questions such as how ions are arranged in an ionic compound are addressed along with the definition of an electrolyte. Two different PhET simulations are used to demonstrate these properties. A number of different physical properties are discussed such as the common high melting and boiling points of these compounds and their brittle nature. Solubility and Conductivity of ionic compounds in different physical states are addressed.
