John Glenn was a true hero, taking a risk being the first orbiting American astronaut, then going up again at 77 . A truly great man.

The Saturn 5 was designed for Mars not just the moon. However our gov didn’t want us pushing to fast so they cancelled Mars and built the space shuttle so we would slow down a bit. No need go faster.

John Glenn was the oldest person to orbit the Earth at the age of 77 years in 1998.

Michael Freedman executive produced from Houston the CBS Radio News Special Report that simulcast this interview with Walter Cronkite and John H. Glenn aboard the STS-95 space shuttle Discovery in Earth orbit on 4 November 1998. This was the final CNSR Walter Cronkite did for CBS Radio News.
