Rick Dubeau and Dan Keizer are next to pitch their fire safety product, Stove Minder. The firefighters say the product will not only prevent accidental fires, but also save lives. They are seeking an investment of 200K for 45% of their company. They need help to get their product on store shelves so anyone can retrofit their existing stove. The firefighters may have left The Dragons fighting back tears after their emotional and powerful pitch, but will it inspire them to invest?

I saw a crib where a baby had died due to smoke inhalation/house fire when I worked in Dubuque Iowa 2000-2003 as a Housing Inspector. I wrote a poem about it, but haven't had it out in years.

I'll never forget being in there and seeing that. Pure sadness.

This system is brilliant! In Norway all new kitchens have to install a temperature sensor over the stove that cuts of the power if its on for to long or goes to hot!

maybe it's because I live in Japan so I don't know what kind of stoves are in other countries, but the ones here beep if left on a long time... then the stove lowers the heat after a minute and beeps twice...after the third beep, it automatically shuts off and would need a person to manually turn it back on.

It’s just an alarm. It’s not a device that automatically shut off your stove and/or oven.

Nice to see firefighters so physically fit. Especially how most only work 24 on 48 off. Not many hours so physical activity should be accountable. 🤔

What I hope somebody will have the smarts to do is approach the residential insurance agencies so that they will offer a premium reduction if you have this installed. In other words --- it will pay for itself by lessening insurance costs thru the years.
You CAN lower insurance premiums in many cases just by asking for example --- will you give me a premium reduction on my house if I give you proof that I installed anti-burst hoses on my washing machine ? ... but almost nobody does.
Your underwriter, not agent, might have a whole list of things you can do to lower your premiums --- but many times agents don't pass them on. Sometimes because of ignorance, and sometime because they get paid a percentage of the premium ... and also don't want to do the paperwork.
