For sequencing, I started with Cakewalk 4.0a for DOS in 1990. My first DAW was Cakewalk Pro Audo sometime in the late 90s

I started with Voyetra Sequencer Gold in the 1980's. A midi sequencer that ran in DOS. Then moved on to Cakewalk. Don't remember the version number but it would not handle VST's. Then someone released a 'wrapper' that allowed it to use VST's. Eventually an upgrade integrated VST handling Cakewalk. Still using the latest version of Cakewalk today.

I started with 12 tone systems cakewalk when it was just a midi sequencer. I got into recording on computer when I could bounce that back to the original four audio track version of cakewalk from my tascam cassette four track.

Bars & Pipes Professional for MIDI and some Tracker(s) for audio on Amiga 500, then melt it together on external tape :D

I'm not sure you could call it a daw, but I started with the Yamaha music computer- 32 glorious k of memory. It used Microsoft's MSX- which was outdated when the computer was released. Saving was to cassette tape. Quantise was manual- note by note. I moved on to an Atari, , and bought Notator (the forerunner of Logic). Notator was the best MIDI program I ever used..

I started with Cakewalk's Guitar Studio, then kept using various Cakewalk versions ending up using Sonar, until it was discontinued for BIAB.

I first tried Traction a few years ago. I liked it but didn't find enough helpful videos for beginners. Then tried Cakewalk and with your videos I learned how to use it.

My first ever DAW - August 1990, almost 34 years ago - Cakewalk 2.0 (for DOS). I did get a demo of Digital Orchestrator, but I didn't switch to it. I've been a fan of Cakewalk since.

Kristal Audio Engine was my first DAW, which I used in the mid 2000s until around 2010 or so. It was free, though extremely limited. I recorded my cover band's demo with it and that was ok, all things considered. I used an emagic 6/2 as my interface. It still bothers me to this day that Apple bought out emagic and the hardware side of it vanished. My opinion was that they made a fantastic product. Thanks for letting me vent! 😂

Cakewalk Sonar studio 8.5, then Sonar X3, then Cakewalk by Bandlab to this day.
And I'm still overwhelmed.

My first DAW ever was Nuendo about 16 years back, then Cubase. I started with Cakewalk only about 2 years ago and that was vary irritating for me to start with a completely different DAW as Nuendo and Cubase are same, but within only few days I found this DAW is much advance than Cubase and i started to love it, now even my most favourute is Studio One but I would love to work with Cakewalk for ever if possible

My first DAW was Ardour on the Ubuntu Studio OS about 5 years ago, it crashed all the time and that was when I decided to switch to Windows and I started on Cakewalk by Bandlab. Currently using Ableton Live 11.
