All Xperia models will need:
1) Faster charging (45W-65W for high-end, 30W-45W for budget)
2) A more computational Basic Mode (on High-Contrast scene and Low-light) and be more consistent in the result
3) A far better Telephoto lens (reach + sharpness)
4) Better selfie camera
5) Longer software support (at least 3 major android updates and at least 4 years of security patches)

It is funny. When Xperia V was announced, so many people complained, "why we have 4k display in so small proportions. Rather we would like to get longer battery life and LTPO". Now when Sony actually is trying (hopefully) to change it, people complain "wrrr why 2k instead of 4k". Im wondering who has so great eye to see a difference on so small screen. I'm waiting on this phone this year, hoping that it will be improvement over mark V and finally we will get 4k60 recording with EIS and OIS ! If so, my 15 Pro Max is going for trade in :D

honestly i'm so excited about the 1 VI but at the same time hoping that we get 5years of software updates at least to 1 VI series onward because they still so powerful and capable of all heavy tasks and usage

We need a point and shoot mode optimised like a pixel for the average consumer and still maintain the pro mode on too.

Can’t wait to see. Hope they do good things for it! Love my Xperia v 1

I don't use facial recognition or fingerprint scanners. I love Sony products. I've never owned a Sony cell phone. Literally, the only reason why I haven't bought one is because I'm not spending that much money for a phone that only has updates for a couple of years. I'm not the kind of person who buys a new phone every year. I'm still using my Samsung Note 20 Ultra. I love the stylus, but I hate the glossy back. It gets too dirty with fingerprints, and I don't like bulky cell phone cases

Sony may be going global. With the new design. Looking at all the new products from sony this year. They have revamped and gone all out blowing the competition out of the water. Hope this is the same with the phone

I hope the rumors are true. Even if Sony changes the aspect ratio from 21:9 to 19.5:9, the phone will be narrower than the S24+, Pixel 8 Pro, and the OnePlus 12. As you said, they need to offer at least three years of Android updates and five years of security updates.

Thank you for being a reliable source for Sony mobile news. I personally feel this is a welcomed change. I love the Xperia's display when watching movies, but these days that display is feeling just too narrow...

It would be great if Sony went back to carriers! If they did, I'd definitely scoop one up

It's so frustrating because Sony actually has the resources and brand power to really be a disruptor in the smartphone space, but their marketing team is pretty much non-existent.

It sucks not having 4k on the newer sony phone since I still watch 4k youtube videos even on 1080p displays. I really love the 21:9 aspect ratio 4k 120 hz display however I wish the display was mini led so burn in from oled is completely gone. The newer sony bravia 9 mini led 4k tv has a mini led display with 4, 000 nits peak brightness. I was hoping that that sony would implement the same tech in the the newer 2024 4k models from the tv department into the newer sony flagship phones department. I already have burn in issues on my xperia 1 iv that's why I wish there was a mini led display version with 4, 000 nits. Since the one plus open has 2, 800 peak brightness, I was hoping to have 4, 000 peak brightness even indoors on the newer sony flagship phones with 2 display versions 1 with oled 4k and 1 with 4k mini led display with the newer specs and the same 21:9 aspect ratio. I been used to using 4k displays since 2014. It's why I have the sony xperia 1 iv, samsung chromebook with it's 4k 60 hz display with super amoled, 2022 razer blade 15 with 4k 144 hz display. All 3 of these devices all have 4k displays is why I bought them and use them. My current tv is the 2017 samsung curve qled 4k tv and samsung no longer makes curve tvs. My very 1st 4k tv was back in 2014 with it's 4k curve display from samsung and I upgraded to the 2017 Samsung curve 4k tv. The difference between 2014 and 2017 were a huge difference in terms of the upgrade between both versions of the 4k tvs when I was upgrading the tvs. Ever since I got my 4k tv with a curve display, it made me never want to go back to using a flat display since I love the curve display and it being very immersive since I still watch tv as close at possible with the max brightness and max back light sliders maxed out. I have a lenovo android tablet with it's 2k display and it looks less sharp than my sony xperia 1 iv phone. However, laptops and tablet displays pale in comparison in terms of brightness since the large majority of gaming laptops are not even 1, 000 nits and only certain gaming laptops have 1, 000 nits on the newer models with the options being very limited. I was still waiting for an android tablet with a 4k display like when sony used to make android tablets with the micro usb port, 32gb of storage and covered the ports with plastic gasket to protect the ports. I used to have the sony xperia z2 tablet from verizon years ago and I would put a tmobile sim card to have unlimited mobile data on the tablet. I even used to have the sony xperia z ultra and the sony xperia z ultra is still my favorite from sony since it was a phablet that I used to carry in my pocket.

It's the fact that you have the 4k option. Who cares if it's not in 4k all the time. The only thing they needed to fix was the point and shoot photography. Do they realize if you make your phone like the others. There's no reason to by your phone.

I really like my xperia 1 v, fantastic device despite its rough start with A14, its all pretty sorted out now. I agree with most of what you said, especially the few xperia greats like the back glass, The sides, the quick fingerprint sensor. I wish they would bring the notification led, dont realize how much i liked till i pick up my 1 ii sometimes.

I am worried they might go back to a smooth back and sides again, and follow something trendy like the g-forsaken in display fingerprint reader, or larger bezels like the 5 V. Oh well will see.

Really hoping Sony to get to mainstream market with their flagship 1 mark Vl and the V mark VI but only with their signature 21:9 aspect ratio and 5 years of software updates. They should reduce the price of their flagship phone close to 1000 USD if it is 19.5 : 9 aspect ratio and 2K display.
Atleast they can make a 21:9 phone of the same specs with 2K display alongside their regular flagship for enthusiasts. Anyway hope for the best to come and Sony should be with the top players with their unique and signature design.

I'm more hyped about the new 10 series, hopefully with at least a 90Hz panel. If they keep the price at 350 - 400 dollars, with such a panel and stereo speakers, it should be a killer midranger.

Im hoping Sony will still make the Xperia 5 and release it in the US unlike the Mark 4 last

If Sony still use the same zoom small 1/3.5" sensor from the first generation from 6 years ago, I give up with Xperia phones (have been using Xperia phones for a long time).

I really hope they update the sensors cause the main camera is amazing I've gotten some awesome shots with it but the other two just always seem soft like never really in focus

Only thing sony needed to fix on their device were:
1: at least 3years of software support maybe 4
2:use ai processing like pixel in their auto camera mod
3:make it a gaming beast reduce its thermal throttling
4: faster charging
Thats all they needed to fix to become competitive no need to replace 21:9 aspect ratio it was something unique though 😢
