Rare earths critical to net zero technology

In the global race to achieve net zero emissions, and to quell China's geopolitical power, the hunt is on for critical minerals.

One curiosity of this is that researchers are trying to work out if large deposits of these minerals were left behind as waste in abandoned mines decades ago.

The Australian Critical Minerals Research Centre’s Carl Spander told Sky News Australia the country has amazing assets in terms of the metal endowment in the ground and the potential to discover more.

BUT BUT BUT 😲 Rare earth's are not renewable 🙄

Stay focused, Don't vote Lib, Lab or Green and repel the Net Zero we never voted for.

Let's hope we get the processing done in Australia. The Greens will hate this, they are straight out anti mining.

Net Zero will guarantee than most humans are not allowed to own their own vehicle, there simply isn't enough copper on Earth to make that many if they are electric. Only relatively traditional designs running on synthetic gas or liquid fuels will allow full private vehicle ownership. Don't say I didn't warn you. BTW the rare earths are not that rare either, but they are also a problem.

we have all the minerals, yet OUR parliaments treat us like shit

Net zero is literally impossible to achieve

How can you have net zero emissions if humans breathe out CO2 ?

Electric autombiles will mean a huge increase in electric distributions system. More wire strung across the countryside, more and larger electric sub-stations, More copper and aluminum mining. More short-lived (abt 5 yrs) storage batteries to install in the autombiles.

The world doesn't have the quantity of some of these minerals to satisfy net-zero wet dreams.

So they have to dig massive holes in the ground to get net zero, am I interpreting this, right??

Sweet. How much diesel is required to charge and electric car again? 🤣

But they have to be mined, by machine, running on fossil fuel, and processed by fossil fuel power.

Going to do more damage to the our environment mining the heaving metals and rare earths we need for the "clean energy"

WTF? Why are Aussie companys building processing plants in the US. We should building a plant here.

You emit a lot of co2 and other poisonous gases to extract these metals. Its 1 - 1 = 0

China can reduce industries n become greener. Let the other countries manufacture their own stuff and emit their own Carbon.

Rare earths that need dug out of ground by fossil fuel intensive mining machinery. As well as the refining then needed and dumping of the waste products. Im not against either renewables and non-renewables, I'm simply showing who so called renewables require non renewables to even function in the first place.
