Malgus is an extremely underrated dueler. You have to keep in mind that he is 7 foot 2. His raw strength was said to simply overwhelm opponents as he was just too physically dominating. Even against Vader I would say Malgus wins dueling.

Malgus would’ve won. Anakin didn’t have battle IQ - his main strategy was act now think later which costed the lives of his men. On the other hand, Malgus was able to sack the Jedi Temple and hold the Republics capital hostage until they reached a more favourable peace treaty. Yes, the Empire defeated the Republic under Palpatine but that was through subterfuge and plots - if the Sith Empire could have done the same it is without a doubt they could have held the Empire longer a hell of a lot longer than Vader and Palpatine did because they had strategy. I mean, there entire memo was fear and only utilised one type of ship pretty much, overused it. The Sith Empires ship designs were not only better and more effective, they were the best in the galaxy.
Everything about old republic Sith was undoubtedly better. The Jedi in ROTS were rusty when it came to fights to the death with other lightsaber users because they hadn’t been at war with the Sith in a long time ago. In contrast, the Sith in the Old Republic were used to killing the Jedi - who were a hell of a lot better at fighting because their lives depended on it.
Now. I get a lot of people will disagree but it’s just my opinion and I truly believe that Anakin - who yes was the chosen one - would lose. I mean… he did lose to Kenobi who was a hell of a lot weaker than Malgus.

Vader by ROTJ wins Mid diff because by then Sidious himself stated he was more powerful than him. As far as his weakness to and using force lightning that was really just for plot because he could use his force shield to protect him from that.

I would argue the opposite with Malgus having slight edge over abilities and variations while Vader over raw power. He has crazy scaling and feats that is beyond Malgus'. Still a hard difficulty fight
