Would We Buy The Blackstone 17” Griddle Again?

3 years ago, we needed a larger grill for when we went camping. At the time, we had a teardrop trailer so we didn't have room for a large grill. We purchased the 17" Blackstone Adventure Ready griddle at Walmart. In this video, I will let you know what we like about the Blackstone griddle, what we don't like and answer the question of would we buy it again if we had to do it all over. Our Blackstone griddle has been used both in the RV and here at our home for the past three years.

I know this video is older now but as far as the gas problem, needing to turn it in slowly... Thats an issue with the regulator. Not the grill. Its actually a safety feature. Always turn on at the tank first before the grill. If theres a suddden out rush of gas with no restriction, the regulator will restrict the flow. To fix it, you need to turn off the gas, wait a bit depending in regulator type then try again. This goes for any grill with a regulator. Some are more picky than others.

I waffled back and forth between the 17 and 22, mainly because I wanted the dual zone temperatures. Nice to know this can be used that way to some extent. I settled on the 17, mainly because I expect to use it a lot at home but don't want to leave it out where it can be so easily stolen. This will be easier to take in and out several times/week. Don't know when I would need to travel with it but you never know.

Nice update. We use the same Blackstone for camping in our RV. I bought the 22" but found it too large to move around for camping so bought the 17". We have also had it for 3 years also but not nearly as many "miles" on it as you do! For us it is perfect, easy to use, clean and store, especially while on the road. I found the same wind hack using aluminum foil but it has only been needed when very windy. Also, I use a 5 lb propane tank (instead of the 20 lb or the green cylinders) and it has been a good compromise and generally 5 lbs will last the camping season. I do miss using lump charcoal on some cooks but do that when we are at home. Great video.

We bought our 17” last year in good part because of your original video - and I can honestly say - YES, we love it!!!! I too find it a good size and don’t mind the one burner
Size /weight was a big consideration for us too and I really think like you this is totally good for 2-4 people . Thank You, I appreciate your time in sharing this with us🌞

I have one of these 17 inches! Love it! One thing you didn’t mention is its weight! We started with the 22” and it was just too heavy for me to lug around so we brought it back and got the 17 with the carry case . Yes I would buy this again in a heartbeat! I have the slats to go around so the wind isn’t a problem.

I absolutely love our Blackstone. I have 17" because I will do a lot of solo travel. I would love a bigger one but the size starts to become an issue. We hook it right up to the trailer.

Great review of this product. I have a Blackstone griddle on my equipment list, just don't know if I should get the 17 or 22 version. This review is very helpful. Thank you and take care.

I was walking my dog through the Campground and came upon a friend who owned a 22". I asked how it was and that we had looked into buying one He says do you want one and I go we really are looking at buying one and he says again do you want one and I go yea we really interested in one and he says no do you want one I have a 17" i'll give you. He had tried to give it away before we came by but no one wanted it. I jumped with joy and said sure. It had a cover and he gave us 4 cans of propane. Nice people. We love it so much. We are full time RV'ers and it been a great addition to the RV.

I have the 17, 22, and 36. I use the 22 most of the time. In the winter, I bring the 17 griddle part only in the house to use on my gas stove and put a cat food/tuna can under the front grease hole. I love having the real estate - so much bigger than a skillet! Glad you like yours too! Todd Toven from Blackstone was in town a couple of weeks ago to show off what can be done on it - definitely worth seeing!

I have one of the earlier Blackstone 17 models that has the grease tray in the front. Like you have done, I bought the 17" model as it fit nicely into the storage compartment of my Lance 1685. I also ended up buying the Blackstone folding stand that goes with it, as well as a hose/adapter to connect the Blackstone to the trailers quick propane connector. If you run this grill with the little 1 pound green go fast.

This griddle is worth it's weight in gold as far as I am concerned. The food it cooks is great, and cleanup is very easy. I plan to keep this griddle around for years to come.

But be purchase of the griddle is just the will always run across "must have" toys that go with the griddle to expand your collection.

Ours is a Sunbeam brand but very similar and we have the same heating pattern. Warmer in the middle and cooler at the edges. Burner is in the same configuration as well. Definitely a good cooking surface. We love cooking on ours as well. Great tip with the aluminum foil around the outside. Going to have to try that next time I cook in the wind.
Thanks for sharing,
Pat

We bought the 17" a couple years ago for basically the same reason. It works great for us and when one the kids family goes along from time to time it is still large enough. We keep it in the bed of the truck.

We just got one at Christmas, from Walmart—great deal, and am looking forward to using it! We picked up an adapter to hook into the external gas valve on our Lance. Thanks for going over the cleanup, I wasn’t quite sure how to do that!

Love the 17” griddle, perfect for 2-3 people. I made wind screens from roof shingle flashing that I bent. Use it every cook and cost $3 total to make.

I also have a 17" that I bought for our motorhome, but I have been using it at home. I thinking of buying a large home size Blackstone. Thanks for the video.
