Been upper 90s all week with 100 one or two days along the Gulf Coast. Gardeners need to make sure to care for themselves and their pets while also caring for the plants. Heat stress can sneak up on you quickly.

Ha ha I fell for a plant name as well and purchased a Captain Kirk hosta solely because of the name . I’m a Trekkie 😊.

I always spell it crepe myrtle because the fabric crepe is crinkly and textured and so are the flowers.

QUESTION: I live in Indiana zone 6a. I have a 24 inch deep raised bed South facing. Can I plant my rose bushes in there and still winter over fine or will they get too cold because it's not actually in the ground?
Thank you for all your videos. I just love the wealth of knowledge that you provide your viewers. There is no other channel on YouTube like yours... it's just fabulous. ❤❤❤

Thank you SO much for answering my question about the “asters yellow” disease that is mowing through my garden !!!
I learned a GREAT DEAL from your response including that I have unknowingly set up the “perfect storm” for having this problem. IE the Chelsea chop and drop and then we are having a great deal of rain and humidity within the weeks following doing this .
I am broken hearted about having to tear out particularly the phlox, along with the echinacea…, but gratefully you ALSO provided some pollinator friendly natives that I can plant instead .
The Raleigh plant nerd “nailed it” on this one 👍👏
TY!

We had tons of moths in May. Also a record amount of rain in May. I had "regular moths", these chubby moths, and over a dozen Hawk moths. I remember seeing so many moths covering one arborvitae. I think the moths like Texas more. I am barely starting to see bees and butterflies. It could also be that with all the rain, the pollinators are having a field day with all the wildflowers. There are many wildflowers.

Good Morning Jim. Great video as always. I have a couple of questions about clearance plants. 1) How to choose a plant that is on clearance and 2) How to revive a plant that is on clearance. I purchase a lot of plants that are on clearance but most of the ones I purchase there doesn't look like anything is wrong with them. But I've seen lots of videos where folks purchase clearance plants that look dead and manage to bring them back to life. I would like to graduate to that level of figuring out clearance plants.

When should we start shopping for our fall planted, spring flowering bulbs, like daffodils, tulips, etc?

*Foogy* _adjective_
foo-gy (phew-gy)

Dewey, sweaty, early morning face moppage.

eg: "It was foogy awful this morning in the garden. My hanky was soaked through by 8:00."

Great and timely info on aster yellows. After seeing this I was able to identify what was wrong with a coneflower. You should do a video on this and how to help keep it from happening.

Good Sunday Morning to you, did you know that Evening Primrose is beneficial to native moths AND bees? Apparently, there is a bee out there that pollinates at night. Just FYI. Thanks!

I don't have to worry about my mint being invasive. It gets eaten down to the ground. I do have bud borers on my roses. What can I do? I don't want to kill the ladybugs.

Up here it’s Pittsburgh region, we had like no rain in may, I have new pests and probably 10% of normal pollinator amount which is huge bummer. My yard was butterfly central and this year so far I’ve had TONs ants everywhere, paper wasps, and a gazillion birds though we don’t feed them and one of birds we’ve never had before regularly.
