These emails are being down played by many media sources as funny banter or as two people just trying to be funny and one up each other. But in truth it is a snapshot into the minds of these two people. It shows us just how engrained stereotyping and racism is in our society. It is very easy to avoid these types of subjects when conversing with others so to engage in these types of exchanges is assuming responsibility for what may happen if you are called to task on them. Apologies are meaningless these days.
