Great video. Good on 22 Minutes for the sketch and points well made.

this comment section is awash with ignorance, and i mean the true meaning of the word. people just don't know enough about the situation which is quite sad really. it's not about blaming your ancestors, it's about a legally binding agreement that was signed by the canadian government and not honored. if we don't deal with it now we just hand it off to our children like previous generations have done. it's not an issue of blame but law. please educate yourself on the history of your country.

Wow so many butthurt white people here. I'm white, I'm even descended of some of the first European settlers (I'm half French Canadian and that side of my family traces back all the way to Les Habitants). Yet I'm able to acknowledge and appreciate the indigenous people's frustration.

I'm a very proud Canadian. I love Canada, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I think it's an amazing country and I will defend it always. However part of my patriotism is in being _Canadian, _ not American. I'm not blind with my love of my country. I don't have puppy love with rose coloured glasses. I'm able to acknowledge its faults along with its qualities.

I find it kind of interesting that you are all taking this message as "Oh so I gotta feel bad for what my ancestors did??" instead of just "Hey let's not sugar coat our history." Because holy hell so much of the Canada 150 crap is so sugar coated you can't even see what's beneath.

Like it or not there are problems, and they aren't even all that distant in the past. Hell some of them are still going on. Don't forget; the residential schools (which had a 40-60% mortality rate btw) only stopped being a thing in the _1990s._ There has been a crisis of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls that was all but completely ignored by the previous government, and all the current one has done is open an inquiry that hasn't had any results. There is a food crisis up north. For the past century the Canadian government has been making it next to impossible for them to get food the way they had for millennia, and they aren't giving them anything to replace their food source - at an affordable price anyway.

Should you be bending over backwards to apologize every second? Should you not feel any patriotism or national pride? No. But just maybe don't be an ignorant American with it is all.

That's just my two cents. Take it or leave it, idc.

I was in grade 5 for the 100 birthday celebration in 1967. :) was a big deal then.

Nothing says comedy like shaming people for the sins of their ancestors!

So people must respect first nations history but at the same time throwing around appropriation and misunderstanding is quite hypocritical

Very nice 22 minutes 😊 I too hope the next 150 years will be better for all of us 💞
"Oh Canada, your home's on Native land" 😅 Touché, Tom Jackson.

They need to get over calling us new comers, because like them most of us were born here. Start dealing with what is, instead of opining for what was.

Wow. There's bad taste, there's shockingly bad taste, and then there's whatever the hell this was.

With all due respect to our dear Mr. Jackson, the aboriginal we should (all) be thanking for our country is Chief Tecumseh.

W-w-wait, why is this on CBC "comedy" the dude was the only one that made a joke, forgive me, but it kind of seems like their blaming European descendants for something our ancestors did and we had no control over, If I took it the wrong way, sorry

I find making fun of the Canada's national anthem is extremely inappropriate.

"Just imagine it being the 150th anniversary of the state that provides you with your housing and university for something that you personally played no part in. They also give you a couple bucks to buy windshield fluid so be grateful". -all credits to Conway Smith. Everyone needs to see this.
